Summary:
The Board of Education is asked to proclaim April 1-7, 2023 as the "Week of the Young Child".

WHEREAS, the Colorado Association for the Education of Young Children (Colorado AEYC) is celebrating the "Week of the Young Child" April 1-7, 2023; and
WHEREAS, we acknowledge the first years of a child’s life as the period of the most rapid brain development and believe these years lay the foundation for all future learning; and
WHEREAS, we attest that high quality early care and education can help ameliorate the effects of poverty, detect and remediate delays, identify and help prevent child neglect, and lead to positive outcomes for individual children, helping them be better prepared for school and more likely to succeed in life; and
WHEREAS, teachers and others who work with or on behalf of young children birth through age eight, who make a difference in the lives of young children in Pueblo School District No. 60 deserve thanks and recognition; and
WHEREAS, public policies that support early learning for all young children are crucial to young children’s futures and to the prosperity of our society;
NOW, THEREFORE, We, the administrators, teachers, and school board members of School District No. 60 in Pueblo, Colorado, do hereby proclaim April 1-7, 2023 as the Week of the Young Child and encourage all citizens to work to support and invest in early childhood.
